VISAKHAPATNAM : studying Class III at Juttada village of Pendurthy mandal. Following a complaint from the parents of the victim, M Siva (20), was booked under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
The appalling incident came to light when the girl’s grandmother noticed an injury on her private parts Friday afternoon and informed the girl’s parents, leading to them lodging a complaint Saturday morning.
According to Pendurthy circle inspector of police K Lakshmana Murty, Siva is the neighbour and brother of the girl’s mother. On Friday morning, while the victim’s parents were not at home, Siva lured the girl into his house with an ice cream and allegedly raped her. On Friday afternoon the girl’s grandmother noticed the injury on her private parts, and told the girl’s parents. The victim revealed the ghastly crime when she was questioned by her parents and grandmother. Sources said that after several discussions, some of the family elders tried to hush up the incident after Siva too, confessed to the crime before them. But the victim’s parents were in no mood to compromise and called the police, who arrived immediately.
The girl’s parents narrated the whole incident to Lakshmana Murty and his team who registered a case against Siva under Section 376 of IPC and under various sections of the POCSO Act. The accused has also confessed to the crime and the court remanded him to judicial custody, Lakshmana Murty said.
The girl was sent for medical tests and admitted in King George Hospital for treatment.
