63-year-old in Minor Rape Case Arrested

 VISAKHAPATNAM:City police have Tuesday taken into custody 63-year-old Shaik Fareedh Shahinsha, the accused in the rape of a 16-year-old orphaned girl. He was held on the second day since the victim registered a complaint with police commissioner Amit Garg Monday. However, the police are understood to be withholding details about the arrest and interrogation for security purposes. According to sources, Fareedh's son Sadiq is a close associate of one of the TDP MLAs in the city.

One Town inspector of police I Srinivas Rao said that they have sent the girl for further medical tests to KGH.

Meanwhile, members of  women organisations staged protests demanding immediate action against the accused. Some members are also learnt to have met the victim at KGH.
