VISAKHAPATNAM : The PM Palem police here Thursday arrested the managing director of a construction company on the charges of forging GVMC certificate for his business purpose. The arrested was identified as M Maliyadri, a resident of Madhurawada area and managing director and builder of MM Constructions.

PM Palem inspector of police S Appala Raju said that Maliyandra constructed an apartment with 40 flats in the name of his company in Madhurawada. Later, he approached the GVMC officials for occupancy certificate, but the latter rejected it as they found some violations in the building. Since the electricity department would not provide electricity to the newly constructed apartments without an occupancy certificate, Maliyandra forged the signature of zonal commissioner-I on the certificate and submitted it to the electricity department. As the signature of the zonal commissioner, which Maliyandra had forged, was replaced by another one and there were few other errors in the certificate, the electricity officials approached the PM Palem police Wednesday evening.

After confirming the forgery, the police registered a case and arrested Maliyandra. He was also produced in the court, which had sent him to remand.
