Streetlights to go off on Earth Day

VIJAYAPURA: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner G Veerapandian gave a call to restrict the usage of electricity by and one hour, on account of ‘Earth Hour Day’ on March 28, to protect environmental equilibrium.

According to a press release here Thursday, he said that the streetlights in Vijayawada will be shut off for one hour from 8.30 to 9.30 and asked the people to be part of the Earth Hour Day. “It’s everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment by reducing the pollution levels in the city, as it leads to global warming,” he said.
