VIZIANAGARAM: A man tried to kill his wife by setting her ablaze at Jagannathapuram village in Parvathipuram mandal of the district Sunday. However, alert neighbours doused the flames immediately and shifted her to hospital.
The victim, S Parvathi (29), was married to Siva of Jagannathapuram, five years ago, and the couple have a son and a daughter. The couple reportedly used to argue frequently as Siva suspected her fidelity. On Sunday, the two squabbled again and Siva, in a fit of rage, poured petrol over Parvathi and set her on fire.
Parvathi sustained about 80 per cent burns and is in a critical condition. Later, her family members lodged a complaint with the police, who registered a case.
