Norms for Three Self-employment Schemes

HYDERABAD: Reviving the self employment schemes such as Dukan-Makan, Adarana and Tatkal, being implemented by the Minorities Welfare Department, the Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday issued fresh guidelines for their implementation.

With regard to the Dukan-Makan scheme, which is intended to provide pucca house with work place along with working capital for running own business for the welfare of minorities, the State government said it had revived the scheme from the financial year 2015-16.

“The main idea of the scheme is to encourage the minorities who own land/katcha house, but are unable to start any economic activity for lack of finance. The scheme will benefit 1,000 minority entrepreneurs - 500 from urban and 500 from rural areas - with the government subsidy amounting to Rs 818 lakh during 2015-16,” a GO issued in this regard stated.

According to the GO, age of the beneficiaries should be in between 21-55 years. Annual Income of the Parent/applicant should not exceed Rs 75,000 in urban areas and Rs 60,000 in rural areas.

They should have clear title deed of the land where building is proposed. Preference will be given to women beneficiaries so as to cover a minimum of 33 1/3% of the total target. Only one economic support scheme shall be granted per family

Coming to Small Loan Scheme under Roshini Package, the State government proposed to implement the scheme with bank linkage but with higher subsidy component i.e. 75 per cent (subject to a maximum of Rs 15,000), bank loan 20 per cent and beneficiary contribution 5 per cent.

In this Scheme the Government aims to provide Small Loans from the State government funds with Bank linkage, up to Rs 20,000 to poor needy persons looking for small assistance.

Under Small Loan scheme 6,000 needy minorities will be benefited with State government Subsidy amounting to Rs 900 lakh during 2015-16.

With regard to Tatkal Scheme under Roshini package, which emphasises on the development of women particularly widows, divorcees, destitutes, orphans, physically challenged and victims of any atrocities, the government will help the poor minorities who are in need of petty loans by providing them a loan up to Rs 20,000 each.

This scheme benefits 2,000 minority unprivileged women with the government subsidy amounting to Rs 300 lakh during 2015-16.
