Telangana to Have Its Own Bodh Gaya

NALGONDA (TELANGANA): Vowing to develop Nagarjunasagar as a world class Buddhist centre on a par with Bodh Gaya, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that his government would constitute a special authority to develop Sri Parvatarama Buddha Vanam in Nalgonda district. A special officer would be appointed to monitor the development works.

Rao, who had been camping in Nagarjunasagar for the last two days to attend the training camp for TRS lawmakers, visited the Buddha Vanam on the occasion of Buddha Purnima on Monday.

He garlanded the Buddha’s memorial and offered special prayers. Later, he planted a sapling there and paid a visit to the museum.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the special officer would stay put at Nagarjunasagar and personally supervise the development works.
