RTC Gears Up to Offset Strike Impact

VIJAYAPURA: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) officials announced that any driver having heavy vehicle driving licence is can apply for temporary driver post, as an alternative measure to avoid inconvenience to the public transportation due to the strike by RTC employees  from Tuesday midnight. 

In Krishna region, there are 1,315 RTC buses which on 410 routes every day with 7,000 staff including 3,500 drivers, 2,800 conductors and other staff.

“As the employees’ unions have decided to go on a strike from Tuesday midnight, the management has geared up to appoint temporary drivers and conductors to run the buse. The drivers will be paid daily wages of Rs 1,000 and the conductor `800,” said G Sudesh Kumar, regional manager, APSRTC Krishna region.

He asked the interested candidates to report at their nearby bus depots on May 6 with their original driving licences and certificates.
