VISAKHAPATNAM: In a shocking incident, a rowdy-sheeter was brutally murdered by unidentified persons at Allipuram here Friday midnight. The deceased, identified as Telugu Anil Kumar (28) and who was involved in a double murder case at Kancharapalem in 2011, was indiscriminately attacked with knives and iron rods by the assailants leading to his instant death. The police formed special teams to nab the accused.
The police said that Anil Kumar, a resident of Saligramapuram Port Quarters, was running a finance business at Jalaripeta and other areas in the city for the past few years. On Friday night, Anil Kumar along with a few friends went to the fishing harbour jetty and was chatting with them when an argument broke out between him and one Tenki Ramana. This in turn led to an altercation where Anil manhandled Ramana. Later, Anil and his friends went to visit his brother-in-law A Karuna Kumar at the latter’s dance institute located on Allipuram main road at around 12.30 am Saturday.
Reddy Venkata Siva Kiran alias Podugu Kiran along with Madhu and Bappi who is a relative of Ramana, arrived at the dance institute and demanded an explanation for beating up Ramana. A heated argument ensued but Anil’s friends intervened and sent them away.
However, while Anil was returning home, he was attacked by unidentified persons with sharp-edged weapons and iron rods. He sustained severe stab injuries on his head and other body parts. He was rushed to King George Hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead.
Based on the complaint from eyewitness Mylapalli Durga Prasad, Two Town inspector T Kalyani registered a case under Section 302 r/w 34 of IPC and launched an investigation.
The police said that the deceased was earlier involved in the double murder case in Kancharapalem area and was arrested in 2011. They suspect that old rivalry and financial disputes with others could have led to the murder. But the relatives of Anil alleged that Reddy Venkata Siva Kiran had killed Anil over financial disputes among other issues.
