Undertrial Found Dead in Police Stn

BHIMAVARAM:In a controversial case, a 30-year-old man, N Durga Rao,  who was in police custody, allegedly committed suicide at the Two Town Police Station here on Saturday.

According to Narsapur DSP Sowmya Lata, Durga Rao, who was picked up near the  Bombay Sweet House on Friday night in connection with some cases, was  found hanging from the ceiling of the bathroom in the police station on Saturday morning.  His body was later shifted to the government hospital here.

On hearing the news, Narsapur RDO Pushamani visited the  hospital on Saturday and enquired with the police officials about the cause of his death.

Meanwhile, when police apprised Rao’s mother Lakshmi of the tragedy on Saturday morning, she alleged that the police had murdered her son and were portraying his death as a suicide.

Rao had been living with his mother while his wife works in Kuwait and their two children live with her parents in Hyderabad.
