VIJAYAWADA: MV Chowdary, chairman of Sreemitra Township, donated Gold Padalu worth Rs 20 lakh to Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple here Sunday.
Accompanied by agriculture minister P Pulla Rao, film actor Srikanth and family members, he arrived at the temple at around 10:30. They were made to wait as the the temple executive officer Ch Narasinga Rao was not present at the temple for receiving the donation officially.
Irked over the absence of EO, minister reportedly pulled up the official, when he came to the temple after some time. According to sources, the Minister warned the EO that if such things happen in future, he will be forced to lodge a complaint against him.
Meanwhile, Chowdary and others along with the minister were accorded traditional welcome and conducted into the temple. Chowdary’s wife carried the offering - gold padalu - on her head, while being accompanied by actor Srikanth’s wife Ooha and others. Later, speaking to the media, Chowdary said he sought blessings for all and he intends to make such donations to other temples as well.
