Huge Cache of Explosives Seized, Auto Driver Held

SRIKAKULAM: In a major haul, the police seized 200 gelatin sticks, 2,000-metre fuse wire, 600 electronic detonators, 1,000 non-electronic detonators being transported in an auto-rickshaw and arrested the driver at Lolouga village of Pondur mandal Sunday. The arrested driver, S Ganapathi, is a resident of Narsapuram village of the mandal. However, the main accused is at large.

According to Ranasthalam circle inspector Vijay Kumar, the police, based on a tip-off, intercepted the auto and arrested the driver. During interrogation, the driver revealed that the explosives belonged to Naveen Reddy, a native of Nalgonda district and resident of Narsapuram village. The explosives were being taken to Narsapuram from Chilakapalem village. Police said that Naveen Reddy transports the explosives, used in quarries, illegally to other areas. However, Naveen escaped when the police tried to nab him. They have registered a case and launched a manhunt for him.
