GAT Results Announced, Counselling from June 9

VISAKHAPATNAM:GITAM University is all set to implement the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in awarding degrees to its students commencing 2015-16 academic year. Under the new initiative which is implemented in many premier institutions across the world, students will be enabled to study subjects of their choice across multiple disciplines apart from the core subject they have enrolled in.

“The CBCS facilitates interdisciplinary learning and enhances the employment potential apart from personality development,” said university vice-chancellor G Subramanyam. He released the results of GITAM Admission Test (GAT) 2015 here Saturday. Based on their ranks, students will be admitted into BTech, BPharm, MTech, MPharm, Architecture (BArch), and Aeronautical Engineering during the online counselling scheduled to be conducted from June 9 to 14.

GAT 2015, the online test, was conducted on an all-India basis from April 20 to May 10 at 38 centres across the country. About 66,000 students appeared for the test in the country, about 70 per cent students were qualified. Of these, about 80 per cent were from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and 30 per cent of the total candidates were women. The rank lists are available on the university website ‘www.gitam.edu’. Among the rankers, only those who had obtained 60 per cent marks in Intermediate or equivalent programme are eligible for attending the counselling.

On the occasion, Subramanyam said that total fee waiver would be given to the top 10 rankers in BTech and 50 per cent fee waiver to the next 90 rankers. The university offers merit scholarship of Rs 8,000 a month to MTech aspirants who join the course with good GATE score. To encourage pharmacy education, the university is giving special scholarship to all BPharmacy students, he added.

The V-C said that the university was starting MS automobile engineering with Canada-based Windsor University from this academic year. Pro vice-chancellor D Harinarayana, Institute of Technology principal K Lakshmiprasad, admissions director K Narendra were present.

Counselling Venues

Online counselling to be held in Hyderabad city and at Hyderabad GITAM campus, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam GITAM campus, Bengaluru city and Bengaluru GITAM Campus from June 9 to 14.
