Test for Management Quota Seats Decried

VIJAYAWADA:Taking exception to private medical colleges conducting separate entrance test to fill up the ‘B’ category seats, student unions including SFI, AISF and PDSU have demanded the state government to immediately cancel the exam scheduled for May 30.

In a press release here Sunday, the leaders of the three student unions threatened to stop the exam if no action was taken by the state government, for separate entrance test meant sale of seats, albeit officially.

They also wondered as to how the government, which was supposed to make medical services affordable for the common man, was allowing the private medical colleges to conduct separate entrance exam.

The medical colleges were now charging Rs 11 lakh for the 10 per cent of ‘B’ category seats as against Rs 2.4 lakh due to which students from the middleclass background were at loss, the student union leaders pointed out and demanded the government to continue with the old system.
