Helmet to be Made Compulsory from July 1

VIJAYAWADA:Two-wheeler riders can relax about not wearing helmets till July 1 after be prepared for the the massive sensitising programme planned by the police department.

Though the details of programme have not yet been finalised, the police are of the view that before imposing the rule, people should be made aware of the risk involved in not wearing helmets. “By not wearing helmets, in most of the cases of accidents involving bikes, the drivers loses his life,” commissioner AB Venkateswara Rao said on Monday, speaking to reporters at his office.

But from July 1, bikers will invariably have to wear helmets and those driving four wheelers will have to fasten seat belts, he said.
