HC Notice to TS Government over AP Bhoodan Board

HYDERABAD:The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Telangana  government on a petition challenging the action of the government in dissolving the AP Bhoodan Yagna Board in the state and appointing principal secretary to revenue as the authority to discharge duties of the board.

Vacation judge justice KC Bhanu was dealing with a plea by G Rajender Reddy, who was appointed as chairman of the AP Bhoodan Yagna Board in Dec 2012 with four years tenure, contending that Section 9 of the Andhra Pradesh Bhoodan and Gramdan Act, 1965 did not contemplate dissolution of the board consequent upon bifurcation of the state. The petitioner submitted that the allegation that the board has alienated huge valuable lands to the ineligible persons and institutions contrary to the provisions of the Act, is extremely vague and bereft of any particulars. He said that he would seize to be chairman of the board following issuance of the impugned order.

While adjourning the case hearing to after summer vacation, the bench directed the government to file the counter affidavit in the matter.
