Health Officials in ACB Net

VISAKHAPATNAM: Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two officials of Regional director medical and health office for demanding and accepting a sum of Rs 30,000 for accommodating an official favour here Tuesday. The arrested were identified as office superintendent I Venkat Rao and senior assistant K Nagaraju.

According to ACB DSP A Ramakrishna Babu, superintendent I Venkat Rao has demanded a sum of Rs 30,000 from a senior staff nurse who is working in RIMS Srikakulam to process some files.

Vexed by the demands, the nurse approached the ACB and filed a complaint against the officer.

On Tuesday, Venkat sent senior assistant Nagaraju to collect the bribe, and the duo were caught red-handed. This is the second trap that the ACB has laid in a span of 20 days. Incidentally, the first case also involved an officer demanding bribe from a nurse.

Cases have been booked and the arrested would be sent to court.
