Auto Driver, Aides Held for Robbing Woman

VISAKHAPATNAM:The city police arrested three persons including a woman for robbing an auto-rickshaw passenger identified as V Subbalakshmi, a few days back, and recovered the stolen gold and mobile phone from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Karri Sravani Reddy of Bheemili, D Koushik of Kakaninagar and K Rama Rao of Arilova. According to sources, both Koushik and Rama Rao are auto-rickshaw drivers. The police said that Sravani runs a brothel and Koushik and Rama Rao have been helping her run the business.

According to reports, Sravani, upon facing a financial crisis, planned on robbing women passengers conveying in either Koushik’s or Rama Rao’s auto-rickshaw. It was then that the victim, V Subbalakshmi (50), boarded Rama Rao’s auto-rickshaw to go to Bheemili. The trio snatched her gold and mobile phone near Bheemili.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim, Bheemili police started investigating and found the trio trying to sell the stolen gold ornaments near Arilova and took them into custody. During interrogation, the police confirmed their involvement in the case and recovered the gold ornaments and mobile phone.
