VIJAYAWADA:The Krishna district unit of CPM has alleged that the state government was trying to snatch lands from farmers in Machilipatnam and Pedana mandals on “the pretext of” construction of industrial corridor.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, CPM district secretary R Raghu said that the state government had issued a notification for acquiring 30,0000 acres on August 31 for industrial corridor and Machilipatnam port.
He recalled that the Telugu Desam party when it was in opposition had said that ports and other infrastructure facilities should be located only on government land.
The CPM leader said that the land acquisition notification was issued before the expiry of the ordinance on land acquisition which was not in democratic spirit.
