Habitual Chain Snatcher Held

VISAKHAPATNAM: The city police arrested ex-offender and a most wanted chain snatcher involved in 48 chain snatching cases for the past few years here Saturday. The arrested has been identified as Dhoni Yellaji (33), a native of Vizianagaram district.

DCP (Crimes) T Ravi Kumar Murthy told newsmen that Dhoni Yellaji along with his accomplice R Santhosh Kumar snatched 1,307 gm gold jewellery in the past three years under various police stations’ limits in the city. Recently police arrested R Santhosh Kumar and recovered 462 gm gold jewellery. Santhosh Kumar, a resident of Dibbapalem area of Bheemili is a barber by profession while Dhoni Yellaji, staying at Pendurthi, is an auto driver by profession. The DCP said that they constituted a special team led by Pendurthi inspector of Crime Wing Ch Rajula Naidu to nab Dhoni. Acting on a tip-off, the special team arrested Dhoni in Vizianagaram in the wee hours Saturday and recovered 440 grams of gold.
