VMC to Clear Structures for Durga Flyover

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has got cracking in doing its part for the construction of flyover at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam here.

Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian has asked the town planning department to take steps for removal of the structures and buildings that are coming in the way for the construction of the flyover.

Already, preliminary exercise was over to identify the buildings that had to be removed so that the flyover could be constructed.

On Saturday, Veerapandian visited the entire stretch where the flyover is expected to come up and left instructions to the staff to complete the VMC’s part as early as possible.

The commissioner, who found that marking was not done properly at the Kummaripalem Ccentre asked the officials to do it properly so that there would not be any problem in future. Similarly, the officials were asked to identify the places where the APTransco has to shift the piers used to run power cables.

The commissioner asked the officials to accord top priority in removing libraries and toilets that had been identified for removal. The commissioner also asked the officials to get in touch with APTransco for shifting a pier at Head Water Works in Vidyadharapuram area.
