NELLORE: Former Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi has said that the Congress will observe the 125 birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar for one year on a grand scale across the country.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, she said that the Congress national vice-president Rahul Gandhi had already launched the programme on June 12 at Mhow village near Indore of Madya pradesh, and the state unit of the party would launch the same programme on September 12 at Vijayawada. She said that her party is planning to install 125 Ambedkar statues across the country.
Congress party state SC cell president K Vinaykumar said that Ambedkar was responsible in bringing the downtrodden communities into main stream by proposing reservations.
