Police Brutality Takes Suspect's Life

ANANTAPUR:  In a case of alleged police brutality against three arrested persons, resulting in the death of one of them and severe injuries to another, has been reported from Chennekothapalli village in Anantapur district.

According to reports, the Chennekothapalli police had arrested three persons — Sriramulu (58), Sanjivappa and another person — some 20 days back on charges of indulging in illegal treasure hunt. They had allegedly tortured the trio over the past few days, following which Sriramulu died on Friday and the unnamed person was severely injured. Sanjivappa mysteriously disappeared from the police station. While the police quietly shifted Sriramulu’s body to the  a government hospital for post-mortem, the kin of the deceased, who learnt about the incident, barged into the hospital, broke the door of the mortuary and took possession of the body.
