Evasive Syringe Psycho Caught on CCTV Camera

ELURU:  In a major breakthrough, the police on Saturday found CCTV footage of the alleged injection psycho, who had been spreading a wild scare across the Telugu states, particularly in West Godavari district, over the past three weeks.

They suspect him to be from one of the towns in the district and are on the lookout to nab him.

Though the first attack by the psycho was on a schoolgirl at Yandagandi Bridge followed by another attack on an Intermediate girl in Yandagandi village on August 22, the police stumbled upon crucial evidence while investigating the cases at places where he attacked three persons in different incidents on a single day on August 25.

As part of the investigation, the police made a thorough check of the CCTV cameras available in the areas of each incident, which helped them zero in on the suspect. Senior police officers said that the victims provided them with a detailed description of the accused which, in turn, helped them create his sketch. “We found that all three victims gave same description about the culprit and started examining the CCTV footage from the areas where incidents occurred,” a police officer said.

While checking the footage at Goranamudi, Kumudavalli and Vendra villages in Undi mandal, the police found that there was only one person with the given description in all three places where the attacks occurred. Video footage from over 50 CCTV cameras belonging to various government and private establishments was checked. The police suspect that he is from a town because, they felt, villagers would have identified him by now if he hailed from any village. “We are searching for him and are confident to nab him shortly,” said Narsapuram division deputy superintendent of police Sowmya Latha.

On Saturday, the police released a video grab of the footage which, however, did not reveal his face clearly, but they are confident that the person in the video grab was indeed the miscreant. This would be the third clue released by the police after two sketches released over the past three weeks.

The cops deployed over 40 teams and posted men at 25 check-posts in West Godavari to nab the accused.
