VISAKHAPATNAM: In a tragic incident, a Class-X student of Ravindra Bharati School (NAD Branch) was crushed under the wheels of his school bus near Goshala at Simhachalam Wednesday Morning. The deceased has been identified as P Avinash (14), a native of Simhachalam area.
According to sources, Avinash, who was not going to school Wednesday, was waiting for the school bus in the morning to return a book that he borrowed from his friend. While Avinash was stepping out of the bus after returning the book, the driver moved the vehicle without noticing him. Avinash slipped from the footboard, fell under the rear wheel and died on the spot.
ACP (Traffic) K Prabhakar said it is a case of complete negligence of the driver. Meanwhile, there was also a cleaner in the bus, who also did notice the boy and alert the driver. The police have taken both the driver and cleaner into custody. The incident happened at close proximity to Avinash’s house, which left his parents, fellow students and relatives inconsolable. Cases have been registered and investigation is on.
