Duo Held for Selling Fortwin Injections

VISAKHAPATNAM:The City Task Force (CTF) police here Sunday arrested two persons, GH Reddy and BV Nagendra, residents of Bapujinagar, for selling Fortwin injections to college students. The accused was procuring the injections from medical shops in Bhadrak, Berhampur and Khurda of Odisha and selling them to students and addicts at high prices.

According to the rules laid down by the Drug Control Administration, Fortwin injections should be sold based on receipt of authorised medical prescription only. However, the accused are procuring the injections on a large scale from Odisha and selling them here.

The police said that the sedative injections are being purchased by drug addicts, particularly students of various professional colleges. While the price of one ampoule of Fortwin is about Rs 6, the accused are selling them for Rs 300 to Rs 800 depending on the need of the addicts.

ACP I Chittibabu, CI R Mallikarjuna Rao and SI A Haribabu conducted raids and arrested the duo and seized 102 injections. The accused were handed over to the Airport Police station.
