Lord Balaji Rides on 'Hanumantha Vahanam'

TIRUMALA:  As part of Srivari Brahmotsavams, the presiding deity of Lord Venkateswara gave darshan to His devout followers on ‘Hanumantha Vahanam’ on Monday morning.

Hanuman is considered the best worshipper of Lord Rama, one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu. He is also hailed as an exponent of all four Vedas, ‘Nava Vyakarana Pundit’ and ‘Destroyer of Lanka’. Hanuman is also considered an embodiment of wisdom, muscle power, success, braveness, health, fearlessness and common sense. He is known as the ‘Vayuputra of Anjana’, for He is born out of power of ‘tapas’. Indeed, one of the hillocks of Tirumala Hill range has been named after Hanuman as ‘Anjanadri’.

As an ardent devotee, who carried Sri Rama on his shoulders, Hanuman’s association with Lord Venkateswara is nothing unusual. It is said that Lord Rama had taught the secrets of ‘Atma Tatva’ to His most loyal disciple.

Thus, the darshan of Lord Venkateswara along with Hanuman is considered not only auspicious but also a high intellectual association. “The appearance of both Lord Rama and Hanuman is said to inspire the pundits for an extensive exploration of Vedic scriptures and  promote righteous life style,” said TTD chief priest AV Ramana Dikshitulu.
