VIJAYAWADA: Ayyappa devotees will go on hunger strike on Sept 26 from morning till evening near the sub-collector’s office here seeking an audience with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to explain to him the ordeal they were going through while they were on their Sabarimala yatra and the help they need from the state government while they were on their sacred journey.
In a statement here on Thursday, Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam central committee member K Suresh said that they had been seeking help from the government in the form of setting up a control room as lakhs of devotees go to Sabarimala every year.
The association sought setting up of a helpline with Vijayawada as the nodal centre, provision of additional general bogies to trains bound for Sabarimala during the ‘deeksha’ season, announcement of spl trains much in advance.
