VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had made it clear that the government is serious about construction of industrial corridor at Machilipatnam along with seaport.

Speaking to mediapersons here Friday, he said economic development of Bandar, as Machilipatnam is popularly known, can only happen with the development of seaport, which needs industrial support for viable operation.

He said industrial corridor development in turn will generate employment and enhance the earning capacity of the people of the region. He said like the new capital city Amravati, land for the seaport and the proposed industrial corridor will be acquired through land pooling. He proposed to provide the land around the district headquarter town, which he said will be a win-win situation for all, as the value of those lands will be far high.

The CM called upon farmers in the villages notified for the land acquisition to cooperate with the government and help in the development of Bandar.
