VISAKHAPATNAM: Customs officials announced that they would offer 20 per cent of the booty seized as a reward to informers of contraband. Commissioner, Customs Preventive division, Vijayawada, S Khader Rahman said that if people, who come to know of any type of contraband, could intimate the Customs, they can get a reward worth 20 per cent of the booty in cash.
A Unit of the Customs, Preventive Division and Shore Guard Customs Party (SGCP) was opened here Monday by Chief Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Visakhapatnam Zone, Deepa B Das Gupta.
“The new office will be headed by ACP G Srinivas Muralidhar and one can share key information on smuggling by calling on 0891-2722230. The informer could get 20 per cent of it,” assured Khader.
