The project comprises a Medical and Health University and a 1,000-bed hospital. A medical equipment manufacturing unit, medical data analytics centre and research and training centres would  also come up as affiliates to the main project.

It is expected that foundation stone would be laid for the project in June and it would be completed by June 2018, a press release said on Friday. A team from the IUIH will be visiting Amaravati on April 25 and 26.

The IUIH will be the headquarters for the 11 mega medical projects to be set up across the state on the request of the chief minister.
