Kapus Told to Apply for Loans

VIZIANAGARAM/SRIKAKULAM:With the entire Kapu community up in arms for Backward Class status in the state, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts have called upon the Kapu youth to apply for various bank loans with government subsidy. Vizianagaram collector MM Naik asked the eligible candidates from the Kapu community to apply for bank loans which would be granted by the BC and Kapu Corporation with subsidy. While executive director, District BC and Kapu Corporation, Srikakulam, Srihari Rao called the Kapu youth to apply for setting up various self-employment units for which the state government would give 50 per cent subsidy.  According to a press release from the Vizianagaram collector, eligible candidates from Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari community can apply for subsidised loans which would be sanctioned by the BC and Kapu Corporation. The candidates can apply through any mandal and municipal areas through mee-seva centres.

The government had sanctioned Rs 14.77 crore with a subsidy of Rs 7.36 crore benefiting 2,462 candidates in the current fiscal. With the government orders, in coordination with the lead bank and BC Corporation targets have been given to 22 banks in the district, Naik said.

In Srikakulam, Srihari Rao said that 738 units had been sanctioned to the district for the eligible applicants from Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari communities. The government sanctioned Rs 7.38 crore subsidy. The units would be grounded with the help of Andhra Bank. Each unit costs Rs 2 lakh with Rs 1 lakh  subsidy. The candidates should apply  online for setting up various self- employment units. The candidate must submit the caste certificate issued by the mandal revenue inspector.
