BANDLAPALLI:With AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi choosing to sidestep the Kapu reservation issue, the Andhra Pradesh Congress leadership appeared a disappointed lot. The Congress felt it could cash in on the Kapu stir and hoped that Rahul would speak on the issue.

During his speech at the public meeting to mark the 10th anniversary of MGNREGA  here, the AICC vice-president chose not to raise the issue.  “We were expecting Rahul to raise Kapu reservation issue during his speech. We also expected him to give a proper direction to the party on the issue as Kapus had always stood solidly with our party. But, much to our disappointment, our vice-president simply ignored the issue,” a Kapu leader lamented.

According to another Kapu leader, as YSRC is trying to corner Naidu by throwing its weight solidly behind agitating Kapus, Congress leaders too were expecting a clear guidance from the AICC second-in-command.
