VIJAYAWADA: Sunder Ravella, member of Capital Cycling Club (CCC) has been awarded the title - super randonneur - upon successful completion of 200, 300, 400 and 600 km brevets during the Brevet calendar year 2015-16.

Sudheer Babu and Jagadish, also members of the CCC participated in the 600 km Brevet organised by Hyderabad Randonneurs, recently. Brevet is a cycling event in which a cyclist is expected to be self-sufficient and ride through a predetermined course of set distance within a fixed time limit. Any cyclist who observes the rules and finishes the Brevet is awarded the title of Randonneur and any Randonneur who completes all four brevets in same calendar year is given the title Super Randonneur.

Randonneuring is a non-competitive endurance cycling sport that originated in France and picked up popularity in India since 2011. In India, Audax India Randonneurs (AIR) is the all-India organisation of Randonneurs, recognised by Audax Club Parisien (ACP) for conducting and overseeing all Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRMs) and Audax events in India.

Capital Cycling Club will always encourage seasoned cyclists to take up endurance sports while motivating general public to take up cycling as hobby, CCC founder Dr Satya Koduru said.
