GUNTUR: Expecting a massive tourist inflow during the Krishna Pushkarams slated to be held from August 12 to 23, the Guntur district administration has decided to increase the number of Pushkar Ghats from 50 built in 2004 to 96.

The decision was taken in view of the reports submitted by both the endowments and water resources departments. The cost of construction and development of the ghats is pegged at Rs 63.18 crore.

Reviewing the arrangements for the successful conduct of Krishna Pushkarams Monday, agriculture minister P Pulla Rao called upon the officials to plan precisely and execute accurately. He also wanted the officials to prepare plans for the upkeep of sanitation and providing drinking water at all ghats.

Collector Kantilal Dande, ZP chairperson Sk Janimoon, GMC commissioner S Nagalakshmi were among those present at the review meeting.
