Prathipati Lays Stone for ANGRAU Faculty Block

 GUNTUR:  Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao laid the foundation stone for the Faculty Block of Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University (ANGRAU) at Lamfarm, near here on Wednesday. The building to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.95 crore would be completed within eight months.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government would soon call tenders for ANGRAU Administrative Building to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 200 crore.

Stating that the ANGRAU being established on a sprawling 494 acres of land at Lamfarm would take up research works in agriculture and allied sectors for increasing yield and to introduce new varieties of seeds, he exuded hope that the agriculture university would cater to the needs of farming community in all the 13 districts of the state and would benefit them.

MLC AS Ramakrishna, ANGRAU V-C Padmaraju, Registrar TV Satyanarayana and others were present.

Boys Hostel Inaugurated

Later, in the day, the Pulla Rao inaugurated Boys Hostel constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.60 crore in Agriculture College in Bapatla. On the occasion, the Minister said that funds to a tune of Rs. 79 crore sanctioned to Bapatla Agriculture College by NABARD and added that the respective funds would be utilised for construction of girls hostel, library building and for purchasing the needed equipment. Reiterating that the government was giving priority for agriculture sector, he said steps are on to set up agriculture research stations in all the districts. MLC Ummareddy Venkateswaralu and others were present.
