'Facelift to Suryalanka Beach Will Make it an International Destination'

GUNTUR: The prospects of Suryalanka Beach near Bapatla entering the world tourism map are bright, given its proximity to the capital city Amaravati. However, it is possible only if the government gives top priority to developing infrastructure in Suryalanka, like other popular beaches worldwide.

Several tourists visiting the beach, which has vast stretch of sand and shallow waters, say that it makes an ideal location for relaxation and would attract more visitors in future now that it is located near the capital, provided it is developed. “No doubt, Suryalanka Beach will emerge as a most sought-after tourism spot, thanks to its proximity to Amaravati. But, the existing facilities won’t meet the future demands of tourists. Hence, the tourism officials should take steps to improve the amenities at the earliest,” opined Ramesh, a software employee from Hyderabad.

Most of the visitors expressed unhappiness over the beachfront littered with plastic bottles and leftover food items. “At a time, when we all are talking about Swachh Bharat, the same is not getting reflected at Suryalanka Beach,” said Karthik, another visitor.

He wants the authorities to construct a beachfront wall and arrange permanent sitting for the visitors to enjoy the view. Observing that the beach already has required facilities in terms of transportation and accommodation, most of the visitors said that tourists will flock the beach in the coming days.

Though the Suryalanka Beach has been attracting a lot of travellers for some years now, following the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) taking initiative and constructing cottages facing sea, there is still a lot to do to cater to the needs of large number of holidaymakers, who are expected to visit the beach in the near future, once the construction of capital city picks up momentum.
