Road Mishap Leads Cops to Ganja

GUNTUR:  A road accident involving a car and a truck near Timmapuram under Nadendla police station limits on Thursday led to the police officials seizing a consignment of ganja being transported to Kerala.

According to police, four persons travelling in a car suffered injuries when their vehicle was hit by a truck. While shifting the injured to hospital, police officials spotted ganja in the car and came to learn that the passengers in the car were involved in the illegal transportation of the seized ganja.

When contacted, police said that they are yet to register the statement from the accused, as they are undergoing treatment. As of now, we have learned that the accused were transporting ganja to Kerala, as the car has a Kerala registration number, the police said.

Though, the police are yet to ascertain the weight of the seized contraband, they said it will cost around 10 lakh in open market.
