Stage Set for Auction of 13 Sand Reaches

MACHILIPATNAM/GUNTUR: Stage is set for auction of 13 sand reaches in the district on Friday as per new sand policy announced by the state government recently.

Pedapulipaka, Madduru, Chevitikallu, Kancha, Pokkunuru, Kasarabada, Alurupadu, Senagapadu, Gollapadu, Surayapalem, Guntupalli and Ibrahimpatnam sand reaches will be auctioned.  A total of 189 tenders have been received for the 13 sand reaches and the entire process was done online.

Out of the total tenders received 14 have been rejected and the remaining tenders are in the bid. The highest number of tenders (22) have been received for Kasarabada sand reach. The total amount of the sand available in the 13 sand reaches is estimated to be 13.5 lakh cubic meters.

Meanwhile, auction of seven sand reaches in Guntur district, on Thursday, had fetched Rs 27.44 crore to the state exchequer. Kastala sand reach had fetched Rs 8.48 crore, Konuru reach fetched Rs 7.31 crore. The other five reaches - Gundimeda, Juvvalarevu, Potharlanka, Vallabhapuram and Uddanda Rayini Palem - together fetched Rs 11, 65 crore.
