AP House Panel to Discuss Roja's Suspension on Feb 19

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly panel headed by Deputy Speaker M Budha Prasad held its sitting to ascertain facts on YSRC MLA RK Roja’s suspension here on Monday.

According to sources, the panel members were not able to come to a consensus on the issue and hence the discussion on the issue was posted to Feb 19.

The panel members TDP MLA Sravan Kumar, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and YSRC MLA G Srikanth Reddy had heated arguments over the issue, sources disclosed.  It is learnt that while Sravan Kumar and Vishnu Kumar Raju justified the suspension of Roja, Srikant Reddy defended his party member and alleged that the government was intentionally targeting her.

Later, speaking to reporters, Srikanth Reddy alleged that the sitting was a one-sided affair targeting the Opposition.  “The panel is targeting Opposition Party and paying no heed to the issues we have raised. It seems that the intention is very clear only to target the opposition. When we asked about lodging a complaint as to how the house proceedings were leaked in the social media, there was not reply from the government, which makes things too obvious,” he alleged.

The committee will also look into the leakage of audio, video tapes from the Assembly and behaviour of the members during the previous winter session of the Assembly in its next sitting, sources disclosed.
