VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh government has decided to construct a model industrial township in 200 acres at Veerapanenigudem near Vijayawada, where Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units will be allocated lands and provided necessary infrastructure.

chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who interacted with MSME representatives at his office on Wednesday assured them of all cooperation and encouragement from the State government. He said the model industrial township will have skill development centre for upgrading skills, housing for workers at the same place apart from good infrastructure facilities like roads, power connectivity, drinking water and water for industrial use.

A special officer will be appointed to take care of permissions, infrastructure facilities in the township and efforts are being made to have stockyards of Vizag Steel Plant and SAIL, the Chief Minister said.

MSME representatives, on their part, urged the Chief Minister to consider selling them the land at lower cost instead of leasing the land to them. At their request, the Chief Minister also agreed for construction of a flyover to overcome traffic problems between Gannavaram and Veerapanenigudem. He sought to know the details of the technology they are adopting and status of the experts. He advised them to come out with workable plans so that necessary lands and permissions can be facilitated.
