Four Pilgrims Hit by SUV,Two Critical

TIRUPATI: A speeding SUV rammed into four pilgrims, injuring two of them critically on Thursday, when they were resting on a parapet wall near Mokalla Parvatham, on Tirumala first ghat road. The injured were first shifted to Ruia hospital and later to Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences  hospital.

According to the police, a group of four people started trekking to Tirumala from Alipiri early in the morning. They were sitting on a parapet wall to take rest when the driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle and rammed into them. Kumar (26) and Madhu (27), native of Bengaluru suffered grievous injuries.

The police said the vehicle was at high speed and when the driver attempted to apply brakes he rammed into them. A case has been registered by Tirumala Two Town police and investigation is on. The details of the driver are awaited.
