TIRUPATI: A group of unidentified smugglers on Sunday attacked the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) combing teams, in an attempt to release their accomplices who were arrested early in the day.

According to the RSASTF officials, the special teams launched a combing operation on Sunday morning and nabbed two operatives belonging to a group, which actually comprised a minimum of 30 wood cutters.

As the teams contined search, smugglers started throwing boulders by hiding behind the trees to free the two operatives. As police fired in air, the wood cutters  escaped.
