Release 2 tmcft Water to Gudivada: Andhra CM

VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials concerned to release 2 tmcft water for use by people in Gudivada for drinking purpose.

He took a decision to this effect when Krishna district collector Babu A brought to his notice the acute drinking water scarcity in Gudivada, during the course of collectors’ conference here on Monday.

Gudivada and several villages are fed by Ryves Canal, which is a branch of Krishna Main canal in Vijayawada. The chief minister first consulted Telangana engineer-in-chief (ENC) and then asked the AP ENC to release the water. The state would compensated to this extend when the ENCs of the two states would meet on February 24, an official press release said.
