GUNTUR: Yet again, reports of ragging rocked Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), here on Tuesday, when a girl student pursuing engineering second year in the varsity lodged a complaint of harassment by a senior student with university authorities on Tuesday evening.

However, university authorities maintained that it was not a case of ragging, but a quarrel between two students resulting out of difference between them. But, they informed Pedakakani police about the incident, who visited the campus and are investigating the incident. No case has been registered yet and the accused has fled the campus, soon after a complaint was lodged against him with university officials.

According to sources, a second year BTech (ECE) student was on friendly terms with a final year engineering student Praveen Kumar. Three days ago, the girl went out of the campus to attend a family function with her relative. When she returned back to the campus, Praveen confronted her and demanded to know whom she went with.

Taking exception to his behaviour, she asked him to mind his own business, which saw Praveen slapping her and threatening to pour acid on her. Shocked over the development, she approached university authorities and lodged a complaint against him. In her complaint she said Praveen was harassing her and making life threats, if she did not love him.
