Railway Guard Dupes Jobless Youth, Held

GUNTUR: Sleuths of the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI), Visakhapatnam branch, arrested a Goods Guard Sk Mahboob Basha while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3.40 lakh from a youth in lieu of providing him the job of Assistant Loco Pilot in Railways.

According to CBI Superintendent of Police R Gopala Krishna Rao, based on a complaint from a youth that Mahboob Basha demanded a bribe of Rs 4 lakh to get him a job, the CBI officials laid a trap and caught Basha red-handed at the office room of Sri Sai Srinivasa Jinning Mills on Prathipadu Road in Guntur in the early hours of Friday.

The complainant alleged that Basha contacted him in October, 2015 and demanded bribe to get him a job. Though the complainant’s family was not in a position to pay such a huge amount, his father, nevertheless, arranged a first installment of Rs 60,000.

When he wanted the remaining amount to be paid, the complainant’s father approached the CBI.

After registering a case, the CBI officials conducted searches at Basha’s residences and seized certain incriminating documents. The accused was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases in Visakhapatnam on Friday.
