VISAKHAPATNAM: A second Inter student committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at her home in Anakapalle allegedly feeling humiliated after one of her collegemates slapped her during a heated argument. The police recovered a suicide note in which she stated that instead of taking action against her senior, the college management reprimanded her, forcing her to take the extreme step.

Malla Dharani (16), a resident of Anakapalle town, was a second year Intermediate student at Himasekhar Junior College in the town. On June 24, Dharani along with a few friends reportedly commented on S Ganesh, an MPC second year student for his repeated failures in exams. Feeling insulted, Ganesh slapped Dharani who in turn took up the issue with the college management which warned both the students against such behaviour.

“Dharani felt humiliated and did not go to the college since then. On Tuesday late night, Dharani took the extreme step and left behind a suicide note. Her parents came to know abou,” police said.  Following the incident, the girl’s parents blamed the college management for not supporting their daughter who got depressed and committed suicide.
