Cops Suspended for Aiding Sand Mafia

VISAKHAPATNAM: Police commissioner Amit Garg suspended Padmanabham police inspector S Kantha Rao and three other personnel on Wednesday, for allegedly supporting illegal mining and transportation of sand from the banks of Gostani river.

Head constables S Adhi Raju and G Sathi Babu along with constable P Ravi Kumar from Padmnabham police station were suspended.

Sources said that Kantha Rao and three others reportedly accepted huge bribes from the sand mafia for turning a blind eye on the illegal business. Recently, some Telugu Desam party leaders and locals  approached the city police chief and lodged a complaint against the policemen. Based on the preliminary inquiry, Amit Garg suspended them.
