
GUNTUR: The police on Wednesday conducted ‘Operation Muskaan’ in the limits of 64 police stations in Guntur rural district and rescued 69 children. They included, child workers, runaways, orphans and semi-orphans. The police handed over the children who left home and those who were working as child labourers, to their parents. After handing over the children to their parents, the police asked them to enrol their wards in schools. The orphan children were sent to the Child Protection Home.
Guntur rural SP Ch V Appala Naidu said the rescued orphans would be properly rehabilitated by the Child Protection Home. Education and vocational training would be provided to the rescued children as part of rehabilitation, he said.
