Panchayat secretary held for graft

KAKINADA : ACB sleuths nabbed a panchayat secretary on Wednesday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a civil contractor.

According to the ACB officials, S Durga Satya Prasad, panchayat secretary of Kesanapalli in Malikipuram mandal, demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from contractor P Satti Babu to clear a road work bill worth Rs 15 lakh. Unable to pay the bribe demanded by the panchayat secretary, the contractor approached the ACB.

The ACB officials laid a trap and caught Satya Prasad red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from Satti Babu at the panchayat office. The bribe amount was seized. Satya Prasad was taken into custody. A case was registered against him, said ACB DSP Sudhakara Rao.
